The results of an evaluation by public health researchers of two Overdose Prevention Sites (OPS) in Toronto are being released today. The first OPS is operated by Street Health in the Sherbourne/Dundas area, with the second OPS in Kensington Market at St. Stephen’s Community House. The major findings of the evaluation highlight how these two OPS are reducing overdose-related harms, because staff are available to immediately respond when overdoses occur. Findings also highlight that OPS increase safer drug use, since clients can consume drugs more slowly, in a calm environment, with sterile equipment.
