National Housing Day, 2014

November 21st is NATIONAL HOUSING DAY, a day to mark the importance of affordable housing as a key social determinant of health.

Canada is the only G8 nation without a national housing strategy; having no plan hurts individuals & entire communities…the average age of death for homeless men is 45, for women it is 39! [Hwang,2000].
This year, we will be adding our voices to a National Housing Day Rally (Dundas Square, 12-1pm) and at a Housing Forum (Church of the Holy Trinity located behind the Eaton Centre, 2-5pm), and re-erecting a banner on our offices declaring that “Housing is Health”.
